Job summary

Community Options, Inc. in Syracuse, NY is seeking an experienced Maintenance Assistant to uphold residential homes, facilities, and vehicles. You will repair issues, carry out regular maintenance, and coordinate with management to engage external contractors.

Starting pay is $22.00 per hour and applicants must have a New York State driver's license and use of a personal vehicle. This role requires safety-conscious work and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with three years of maintenance experience.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Complete all state and agency required training per state guidelines.
• Ability to work safely with hands and power tools.
• Experience with problem solving against multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Develop a schedule of basic maintenance tasks.
• Complete required maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
• Ensure repairs are made timely in a way that is safe and in compliance with local laws and regulations.
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems and structural components including appliances, fans, lights, flooring, carpets, paneling, doors, etc.
• Perform basic maintenance tasks including painting, spackling, and basic electrical or plumbing work.
• Advise management when an outside contractor may be necessary.
• Review contractor estimates to ensure they reflect required repairs and reasonable costs.
• Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned.
• Cooperate with the license and department staff in inspections, inquiries, or investigations

We are now hiring an experienced Maintenance Assistant in Syracuse, NY. The Maintenance Technician maintains residential homes, facilities, and vehicles. This person is responsible for repairing issues that arise, completing regular maintenance plans, and working with local management to contract external contractors.

• Employment is contingent upon successful completion of checks of criminal background, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing
