Job summary

Scenery Hill Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center is seeking an Experienced Maintenance Assistant for a rural nursing facility. You will perform routine, preventative and corrective maintenance of facility equipment and grounds according to State and Federal standards, with an emphasis on safety and reliability.

Responsibilities include painting, plumbing, electrical and carpentry work, operation of tools, and daily safety tours.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in healthcare maintenance preferred.
  • HVAC and/or Electrical certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out work assignments as directed by supervisor.
  • Perform painting projects at the facility; including surface prep, trim work, and cleanup.
  • Perform routine plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and repair work.
  • Operate lawn, hand, and power tools (snow blowers, drills, saws, planers, sewer snakes).
  • Replace burned out light bulbs and ballasts regularly.
  • Carry out scheduled service per preventative maintenance program.
  • Perform safety surveillance of potentially unsafe work areas and equipment.
  • Report hazardous equipment and conditions to supervisor.
  • Conduct daily facility tours to check maintenance request books and perform needed repairs.
  • Work independently on long-term projects.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident records and respect resident rights.
  • Be available for weekend work as requested.
  • Practice safe working habits.

Experienced Maintenance Assistant Needed for Rural Nursing Facility
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Position requires demonstrated knowledge and skills in completing routine, preventative and corrective maintenance of the facility equipment and property inside and out in accordance State and Federal regulatory standards - maintaining the grounds in a first class condition; safely and properly maintaining facility and equipment in accordance with established policies and procedures of the facility; demonstrate effective verbal and written communication in English; be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, climb, push, sweep, lift, and stretch for extended periods; be able to frequently move heavy furniture, boxes and equipment; lift and carry up to 75 pounds.

Education

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience

Previous work experience in a healthcare setting and knowledge of Life Safety State and Federal Regulations preferred.

Certificate/Licenses

HVAC and/or Electrical certification preferred. Valid Pennsylvania driver’s license with clean driving history.
