TITLE: Maintenance Assistant
GRADE: 2
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Offers consistently excellent customer service.
Performs janitorial, mechanical, and site maintenance functions as assigned.
Performs basic electrical, mechanical, and plumbing work as assigned.
Packs, loads, picks-up, delivers, and distributes library materials, janitorial supplies, office supplies and equipment, postage, mail, inter-agency mail, etc., utilizing a library vehicle, as assigned.
Assists in the maintenance of security systems, including opening and closing the library, and setting and responding to alarms and emergency situations, as needed.
Assists in the inspection and maintenance of building and equipment; reports needed repairs to th e Facilities Manager; takes corrective action as directed.
Reports supply and equipment needs to the appropriate person.
Assists in setting up for meetings and presentations.
Serves on various teams and committees.
Keeps up with e-mail and information posted on the staff site.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Organizes, analyzes, and prioritizes work skillfully and efficiently.
Possesses good mechanical skills and aptitude.
Operates library computers and business equipment.
Works independently with appropriate training and supervision.
Maintains professionalism and adheres to library policies and staff code.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or G.E.D.
Demonstrated competence and experience in routine vehicle repairs, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting and janitorial work.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Works assigned schedule, which includes evenings and weekends.
Assists other agencies/departments, as needed.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Must pass criminal and BMV background checks.
