Job summary

Monarch Healthcare Management is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the maintenance director in keeping the facility in top condition. You will perform repairs, schedule preventive tasks, and help manage equipment, supplies, and safety compliance.

You will work with residents and staff, ensuring clean, safe environments while following Minnesota Department of Health guidelines and company policies. The role offers growth within our expanding network of facilities.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of boilers, heating and air conditioning units, refrigerators and electrical systems.
• Leadership ability and ability to coordinate with staff and Directors.
• Two years of experience in maintenance and power plant work desirable.
• Experience in healthcare, skilled nursing facility or assisted living community preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support Maintenance Operations: assist in planning and performing routine maintenance and preventive programs for the facility.
• Systems and Safety Compliance: maintain fire alarms, emergency electrical systems, HVAC, water/sewage systems, and safety regs.
• Equipment and Supply Management: assist in ordering, receiving, storing, and documenting maintenance items; manage inventory.

Maintenance Assistant

Position Summary

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible in cooperation with the Maintenance Director for the overall maintenance of the facility. By performing repairs and maintenance on equipment and supplies, ordering and requisitioning supplies and equipment as needed. They perform regular scheduled maintenance checks and documents them as needed. The position assists in the evaluation and efficient operation of all systems and equipment and recommends changes, as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Support Maintenance Operations Assist the Maintenance Director in planning, organizing, and performing routine maintenance, repairs, and preventive maintenance programs for the facility.

• Systems and Safety Compliance Maintain fire alarms, emergency electrical systems, HVAC, water/sewage systems, and ensure adherence to federal, state, and facility safety and infection control regulations.

• Equipment and Supply Management Help with ordering, receiving, storing, and documenting maintenance equipment and supplies; maintain inventory and report or repair equipment as needed.

• Facility Cleanliness and Safety Maintain clean, safe indoor and outdoor areas, identify and eliminate hazards, and coordinate preventive maintenance visits.

• Professional Conduct and Communication Promote positive relationships with residents, staff, families, and visitors; maintain confidentiality, dress code, and courteous behavior while supporting customer service and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

• Training and Compliance Participate in inspections, audits, workshops, and continuing education; stay updated on facility policies, Minnesota Department of Health regulations, and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have thorough knowledge of general maintenance, such as boilers, heating and air conditioningunits,refrigeratorsandfreezers,electricalwiring,etc.Boilerlicenseisstrongly recommended.
• Must possess leadership ability and the ability and willingness to cooperate and communicate with allstaff andDepartmentDirectors.
• Two(2)yearsofexperience inmaintenanceandpower plantworkis desirable
• Experienceinhealthcare,skillednursingfacilityorassistedlivingcommunity
