Job summary

Eastern Health Group in Virginia Beach operates skilled nursing and rehab facilities focused on resident-centered care. The Maintenance Assistant performs maintenance and construction, keeping grounds, parking lots and equipment in good working order and performing cleaning tasks as needed.

You will inspect equipment for safety, perform carpentry, painting and refinish tasks, and report repair needs to the Maintenance Director to maintain a safe, well-kept environment for residents and staff.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to understand and follow both written and oral instructions.
• Ability to make decisions independently.

Responsibilities

• Work on the cooling, plumbing, gas, electrical, mechanical, oxygen and communication systems.
• Perform carpentry duties as needed.
• Paint, plaster and refinish items as needed.
• Perform heavy duty cleaning.
• Change screens and storm windows.
• Inspect all equipment and systems regularly to ensure proper functioning and safety.
• Advise Maintenance Director of any repair needs concerning structure, equipement and grounds.

Job Description

The Maintenance Assistant performs maintenance and construction work around the facility. They maintain the grounds, parking lots and equipment. They perform cleaning tasks as needed in all areas, as well as paint, plaster and inspect equipment to make sure it is properly functioning.
