Job summary

Beecher Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to ensure the home stays safe and well-maintained. You will perform repairs, schedule contractors, monitor facility systems, and carry out routine maintenance to keep residents comfortable and secure.

The role requires carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and knowledge of safety regulations, with strong organizational skills and the ability to lift 50–100 lbs. Full-time position with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• Experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work and general building maintenance.
• Understanding of building and fire safety regulations.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Ability to perform moderate to heavy exertion and lift 50–100 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Complete work orders from the Maintenance Director, including bulbs, filters, painting and basic carpentry.
• Maintain facility areas, grounds, fences, parking areas, furniture and HVAC systems.
• Repair service equipment and power tools; keep kitchen equipment functional.
• Maintain preventative maintenance records and use the work order system.
• Conduct daily inspections of the building, grounds and equipment.
• Identify and resolve safety hazards to protect residents, visitors and staff.

Maintenance Assistant Requirements:

• Experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and general building maintenance
• Understanding of building and fire safety regulations
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• Ability to perform moderate to heavy exertion, including standing, reaching, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
• Ability to lift between 50 and 100 lbs. and be available for after-hours emergencies

As a Maintenance Assistant, you will:

• Complete work orders assigned by the Maintenance Director, including changing light bulbs, AC filters, painting, plumbing, light carpentry, fixing sheetrock, and other maintenance duties
• Assist with maintenance of facility areas, including grounds, fences, parking areas, furniture, appliances, and HVAC systems
• Maintain and repair service equipment, power tools, and kitchen equipment
• Keep preventative maintenance records and utilize a work order tracking system
• Conduct daily inspections of the building, grounds, and equipment
• Identify and resolve potential safety hazards to protect residents, visitors, and staff
