Job summary

A Skilled Nursing Facility in Orange County, New York is hiring a full time Maintenance Assistant to safeguard residents and staff by repairing buildings and furnishings and maintaining grounds including lawn care and snow/ice removal.

Responsibilities include preventative maintenance, heating/plumbing system management, scheduling repairs, and quality checks on equipment. Requires basic tools knowledge, carpentry/painting skills, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old with a HS diploma or equivalent.
• Prior related maintenance experience required.
• Basic knowledge of tools, plumbing, carpentry and painting.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

This position is responsible for ensuring resident and staff safety by being responsible for repairs to the buildings and furnishings, as well as up-keep of the grounds including lawn care and snow/ice removal.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures.
• Manage heating and plumbing systems to guarantee functionality.
• Plan and schedule repairs.
• Conduct periodic quality checks on equipment and systems to ensure everything is up to standard.
• Perform general maintenance tasks including, painting, and carpentry.
• Clean and assist with upkeep of facility.
• Upkeep of grounds, including lawn care and snow ice removal.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 yrs. age required, HS diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Related work experience required.
• Basic knowledge of tools and their use.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, carpentry and painting skills.
• Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions required.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
• Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend and crawl into awkward spaces.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
