Job summary

Murano is seeking a compassionate Senior Living Maintenance Assistant to support residents in our Seattle-area community. The Maintenance Assistant helps with general upkeep, safety compliance, and timely repair of living spaces and common areas.

A caring, responsible approach is essential to serve an older adult population. The role requires physical capability, basic trades knowledge, and flexibility for evening/weekend work when needed.

Qualifications

• Experience in building maintenance or related trades is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 90 lbs and perform physical tasks.
• Comfort with alternating shift patterns including evenings and weekends may be required.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance projects including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting and equipment repair.
• Ensure walls, floors, doors, windows, and furniture are maintained and repaired.
• Repair vacated rooms promptly including painting and carpet cleaning.
• Handle in-house plumbing tasks (sinks, toilets, bathtubs) and basic electrical work in units and common areas.
• Document safety issues and follow safety guidelines.
• Assist with safety training and procedure development.
• Respond to accidents and emergencies per established protocol.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Our Maintenance Assistants are responsible for:

• Perform general maintenance projects as scheduled or assigned, including installations and repairs involving plumbing and electrical equipment, fire and sprinkler equipment, H.V.A.C., landscape, carpentry work, painting, and equipment repair.
• Must understand and have knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
• Ensure that walls, floor coverings, doors, windows, furniture, woodwork in the common areas of the community are properly maintained and repaired.
• Must have basic prep and painting abilities
• Repair and maintain vacated rooms in a timely manner which includes painting walls and cleaning carpets.
• Responsible for all in-house plumbing, e.g. sinks, toilets and bathtubs.
• Responsible for minor electrical work within units and in common areas, e.g. light switches, wall outlets, garbage disposals, etc.
• Responsible for painting of all apartments and common areas.
• Repair, clean and maintain all carpet, floor coverings and furniture.
• Responsible for completing all work orders in a timely manner – noting any other work completed at the location but not listed on work order.
• Document safety issues as well as physical plan deficiencies related to local, county, state and federal guidelines.
• Assist MS in preventative maintenance and cleaning of the community vehicles (busses and cars, vans).
• Assist with training and development of safety procedures and hazard communications.
• Responsible for any other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor, Regional Maintenance Supervisor or General Manager.
• Responds immediately and appropriately to all accidents and emergencies, based on established protocol.
• Other duties as assigned.

If you are someone with:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred. (Must be at least 18 years of age.)
• 1-3 years related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
• Demonstrated knowledge of building maintenance, electrical, mechanical, painting, plumbing, floor care, heating and HVAC skills.
• Prefer knowledge of fire suppression & irrigation systems.
• Prefer motor vehicle maintenance ability.
• Flexible and must be able to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

Actual pay rate within stated pay range is determined based on relevant factors in compliance with state and local wage laws. This range reflects what we reasonably expect to pay upon hire.
