Job summary

Chestnut Woods Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center is seeking a part-time Maintenance Assistant to help keep a safe, comfortable and well-functioning environment for residents and staff. The role involves rounds, minor repairs across plumbing, electrical, carpentry and cosmetic tasks, and coordination with teams to maintain service quality.

Located at a 88-bed Sub-Acute and Long-Term Care facility, the team emphasizes safety, respect and excellence as core values while offering tuition

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year or more of general maintenance experience (painting, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC or related trades).
• Skilled nursing facility experience preferred.
• Basic understanding of safety procedures and maintenance best practices.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily physical rounds throughout the facility to identify and address maintenance needs and safety concerns.
• Perform minor plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and cosmetic repairs to facility systems and equipment.
• Review maintenance request logs regularly and complete work orders accurately and promptly.
• Collaborate with staff to support improvements in resident living spaces and overall facility environment.
• Assist with furniture moves, equipment repairs, and general maintenance projects as assigned.
• Troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues promptly and efficiently to support resident safety and comfort.
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with safety standards, facility policies, and regulatory requirements.
