Job summary

Apple Rehab Rocky Hill is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to maintain and repair the facility’s physical plant and systems, including plumbing, electrical, and grounds. You will operate tools and report needed repairs to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Qualifications include experience in hospital or long-term care, ability to perform routine plumbing, electrical, carpentry tasks, a valid driver’s license and a team-oriented attitude. A positive, patient demeanor is valued at Apple Rehab Rocky Hill.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a hospital or long term care facility preferred.
• Ability to perform, and working knowledge of, routine plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry and grounds keeping tasks including painting, wallpapering, and shoveling snow.
• Valid drivers’ license and safe driving record.
• The Maintenance Assistant demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
• Patience, tact, enthusiasm and a positive attitude toward the residents and their support networks.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and repairs the facility’s physical plant and its various systems including plumbing, electrical, structural and equipment as well as maintaining grounds.
• Safely operates equipment, power and hand tools.
• The Maintenance Assistant advises appropriate facility personnel of any potential shut-downs to enable the staff to provide alternate plans for the continuation of operations.
• Plans efficient use of time, cooperates with all other staff and performs responsibilities with a minimum disruption to the facility.
• The Maintenance Assistant inspects facility and reports to Maintenance Supervisor any needed repairs.
