Job summary

The Alden Network is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to work under the Building Manager in our healthcare facility. You will perform day-to-day maintenance tasks in line with current facility policies and regulations while supporting staff and residents.

Responsibilities include monitoring systems, assisting with outside contractors, and responding to emergencies. A courteous, patient, and team-oriented approach is essential to maintain a safe environment.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent preferred.
• Must be min. 18 years of age.
• Must read/write/speak English clearly.
• Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
• Ability to deal tactfully with residents, family, and staff.
• Willingness to work harmoniously with others.
• Patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.

Responsibilities

• Follow departmental policies and dress code.
• Perform tasks assigned by Building Manager.
• Monitor temperatures and equipment; assist outside contractors.
• Perform simple maintenance tasks (mechanical, electrical, plumbing).
• Relocate equipment/furniture as needed within the building.
• Respond to off-hour emergencies; report safety threats.
• Adhere to Infection Control, Fire Safety and OSHA policies.
• Maintain a warm, safe, calm facility atmosphere.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent preferred.
• Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, personnel, government agencies/personnel and the general public.
• Must possess ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
• Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition, and enthusiasm.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
• Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
• Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met, to include the use of the maintenance equipment and supplies.
• May be required to lift, push, pull and move equipment, supplies, etc., in excess of fifty (50) pounds throughout the workday.
• Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
• Must understand that this is a health care facility and as such there is a risk of exposure to infectious diseases including blood borne diseases, such as HIV and Hepatitis.
• Must be willing to follow correct infection control guidelines including the usage of Personal Protective Equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Follow established departmental policies and procedures, including appropriate
• dress code.
• Perform tasks as assigned by the Building Manager including, but not exclusively:
• Monitoring temperatures
• Monitoring equipment
• Monitoring/assisting outside contractors
• Performing simple mechanical, electrical, record keeping and plumbing maintenance tasks
• Assisting the Building Manager on more complex tasks when requested
• Assisting in the relocation of equipment/furniture within the building
• Responding to off hour emergencies
• Immediately rectify or report to the Building Manager or Manager on Duty any observed safety threat.
• Follow the Alden Infection Control, Maintenance, Fire Safety, and OSHA Safety Policies as written.
• Maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the Facility.
• Participate in Departmental and Facility In-service Education Programs and staff meetings.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
