Job summary

South Roanoke Nursing Home is seeking a knowledgeable Maintenance Assistant to join our facilities team in Roanoke, VA. The role covers maintenance, construction, grounds and equipment upkeep around the campus.

You will perform cleaning in basements and storage areas, paint and plaster as needed, inspect machines for proper functioning, and work independently. Hours are 8:00am–4:30pm; benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401K and PTO.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and follow written and oral instructions.
• Experience in maintenance, construction, or power plant work preferred.
• Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, construction, and upkeep around the facility.
• Maintain grounds, parking lots, and equipment.
• Clean basement, storage, and utility areas as needed; paint/plaster as required.

Job Location: Roanoke, VA 24014, Salary Range: $20.00 - $23.00 Hourly, South Roanoke Nursing Home is currently recruiting a knowledgeable Maintenance Assistant. The Maintenance Assistant performs maintenance and construction work around the facility. They maintain the grounds, parking lots, and equipment. They perform cleaning tasks as needed in the basement, storage, and utility areas. The Maintenance Assistant paints, plasters, etc. as needed and inspects all equipment to ensure its proper functioning.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Trade school certificate in one or more of the major trades (job experience may be substituted)
• At least two (2) years of experience in maintenance, construction, or power plant work
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to make decisions independently
• Ability to understand and follow both written and oral instructions
