South Roanoke Nursing Home is seeking a knowledgeable Maintenance Assistant to perform maintenance and construction around the facility. You will maintain grounds, parking lots, and equipment, and handle cleaning in basements and storage areas.

The role includes painting, plastering, and inspecting equipment to ensure proper function. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, a trade school certificate preferred, and at least two years of relevant experience.

• Trade school certificate in major trades preferred or job experience substituted.
• At least two years in maintenance, construction or power plant work.

Job description

South Roanoke Nursing Home is currently recruiting a knowledgeable Maintenance Assistant. The Maintenance Assistant performs maintenance and construction work around the facility. They maintain the grounds, parking lots, and equipment. They perform cleaning tasks as needed in the basement, storage, and utility areas. The Maintenance Assistant paints, plasters, etc. as needed and inspects all equipment to ensure its proper functioning.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Trade school certificate in one or more of the major trades (job experience may be substituted)
• At least two (2) years of experience in maintenance, construction, or power plant work
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to make decisions independently
• Ability to understand and follow both written and oral instructions
