Job summary

Blue Ridge Rehabilitation and Nursing is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support daily facility upkeep, grounds, and essential systems. You will perform maintenance and construction tasks around the building, maintain the grounds and parking areas, and handle cleaning duties as needed.

You will paint, plaster and inspect equipment to ensure everything functions safely and reliably. This position requires the ability to work independently and make decisions, to understand and follow both

• Perform carpentry duties as needed.
• Change screens and storm windows.
• Advise Maintenance Director of repairs needed concerning structure, equipment and grounds.

Job Description:

The Maintenance Assistant performs maintenance and construction work around the facility. They maintain the grounds, parking lots and equipment. They perform cleaning tasks as needed in all areas, as well as paint, plaster and inspect equipment to make sure it is properly functioning.

Responsibilities:

• Work on the cooling, plumbing, gas, electrical, mechanical, oxygen and communication systems.
• Perform carpentry duties as needed.
• Paint, plaster and refinish items as needed.
• Perform heavy duty cleaning.
• Change screens and storm windows.
• Inspect all equipment and systems regularly to ensure proper functioning and safety.
• Advise Maintenance Director of any repair needs concerning structure, equipement and grounds.
