Mystic Healthcare in Mystic, Connecticut is hiring a Maintenance Assistant to perform routine maintenance on facility grounds and systems, follow schedules, and support safety and cleanliness.

You will handle plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and heating/cooling tasks as directed, and ensure equipment is serviced; you must lift up to 40 pounds and work around cleaning products. This full-time role offers competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum high school education or equivalent.
• Ability to speak and write English clearly.
• Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds and move weight up to 4 feet.
• Ability to work around food and cleaning products.

Responsibilities

• Receive and follow maintenance schedule/instructions from your supervisor and as outlined in our established maintenance policies and procedures.
• Perform routine maintenance on grounds, parking areas, driveways, etc., by cutting, trimming, policing, sweeping, etc., as necessary/directed.
• Perform routine maintenance and repair on the facility and equipment to include plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, etc., as directed, in accordance with established procedures.
• Clean windows and screens as directed.
• Replace burned out light bulbs, to include, exit lights, overhead lights, fluorescent lights, room call lights, etc., and perform cleaning duties wherever necessary.
• Service heating and cooling units/systems, as specified by the manufacturer, and in compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Perform unscheduled maintenance tasks as directed.

Requirements:

• Must possess, as a minimum, a high school education or equivalent.
• Be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.
• Be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 40 pounds to a minimum height of 3 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 4 feet.
