Job Summary:Maintain a safe, clean and orderly facility to ensure the efficient operation of the Food Bank. Assist in maintaining safe and properly functioning vehicles, equipment and building.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a rodent/pest free environment including setting and checking traps and spot-checking product to ensure safe and sanitary operation of the Food Bank.
- Maintain the grounds around the Food Bank facility, including snow removal and lawn care
- Perform trash and litter removal to the outside portion of the facility
- Perform cleaning functions inside the facility, including using electric-riding and walk-behind floor sweepers and scrubbers
- Maintain and make repairs to the building by monitoring all systems and structures.
- Perform preventative maintenance on all material handling equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance on all Food Bank staff vehicles that are not a part of the lease program
- Perform daily janitorial tasks such as, but not limited to, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, mopping floors while using the proper equipment and supplies
- Maintain up-to-date records to ensure compliance with regulations of the Food Bank, including daily temperature reports for freezers and refrigeration and warehouse
- Complete and submit daily check lists of activities
- Assist in preparing for meetings and conferences.
- Assist with set up and breakdown of rooms for special events/functions.
- Diagnose problems with equipment that is reported as damaged or not functioning properly and if necessary, make recommendations for outsourcing of repairs
- As directed by Maintenance Manager or Operations Director provide assistance to all Food Bank staff that have requests that are maintenance related
- Assist with moving of furniture to various locations in the facility
Interact with outside contractors that are at the facility doing repairs or preventative maintenance on systems - Ensure that all areas of the Food Bank are safe, clean and in proper working order
- Able to operate scissor and boom lifts
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 1 – 3 years related experience and/or training
- Knowledge of and experience in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, heating and refrigeration systems
- Knowledge of and experience in vehicle and equipment mechanics
- Ability to perform general contracting tasks
- Ability to operate and repair warehouse equipment
- Ability to stand and walk for a minimum of 8 hours
- Ability to climb a ladder and work safely for an extended period
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to bend and lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to use power and hand tools, warehouse equipment such as a dolly, pump jack, power jack, forklift, and custodial equipment (electric floor sweeper, electric floor scrubber)
- Must be able to operate automatic and standard transmission vehicles.
- Valid drivers’ license
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Act 33 & 34 clearance
