Community Options, Inc. in Syracuse, NY is hiring an experienced Maintenance Assistant to maintain residential homes, facilities, and vehicles. You will repair issues, follow maintenance plans, and coordinate with local management to hire outside contractors.

The starting pay is $22.00 per hour. A valid New York State driver’s license and use of a personal vehicle are required. The role emphasizes safety and compliance with local laws and regulations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with three years of maintenance experience.
• Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
• Complete all state and agency required training per state guidelines.
• Ability to work safely with hands and power tools.
• Experience solving problems across multiple priorities.
• Background checks including criminal, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing.

Responsibilities

• Develop a schedule of basic maintenance tasks.
• Complete required maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
• Ensure repairs are made safely and in compliance with laws and regulations.
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems and structural components including appliances, fans, lights, flooring, carpets, paneling, doors, etc.
• Perform basic maintenance tasks including painting, spackling, and basic electrical or plumbing work.
• Advise management when an outside contractor may be necessary.
• Review contractor estimates to ensure they reflect required repairs and reasonable costs.
• Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned.
• Cooperate with license and department staff during inspections.

Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 11 states.

We are now hiring an experienced Maintenance Assistant in Syracuse, NY. The Maintenance Technician maintains residential homes, facilities, and vehicles. This person is responsible for repairing issues that arise, completing regular maintenance plans, and working with local management to contract external contractors.

Starting pay is $22.00/per hour

*Must have a valid New York State driver's license and use personal vehicle*

Responsibilities

• Develop a schedule of basic maintenance tasks
• Complete required maintenance tasks in a timely manner
• Ensure repairs are made timely in a way that is safe and in compliance with the local laws and regulations
• Install, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems and structural components includingappliances, fans, lights, flooring, carpets, paneling, doors, etc.
• Perform basic maintenance tasks including painting, spackling, and basic electrical or plumbingwork
• Advise management when an outside contractor may be necessary
• Review contractor estimates to ensure they accurately reflect the required repairs and reasonable job costs
• Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned
• Employee must cooperate with the license and department staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation
