Draper and Kramer is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the upkeep of a residential property in Chicago’s West Loop. Reporting to the Head of Maintenance, you will handle work orders, coordinate with vendors, and assist with turnover schedules while maintaining a positive, organized approach.

The role emphasizes strong communication, multi-tasking, and basic computer skills to manage daily tasks and respond to emergencies as needed.

Formación

• Experience working in multifamily residential facilities.
• HVAC certification or equivalent experience.
• Working knowledge of light plumbing, minor electrical, and HVAC maintenance.
• Ability to participate in the on-call schedule as required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work holidays, weekends, and evenings based on property needs.
• Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Responsabilidades

• Coordinate with staff, vendors, contractors, and residents to maintain safety, cleanliness, and upkeep of the building.
• Respond promptly to emergencies in accordance with procedures.
• Prepare incident reports, perform fire safety inspections, assist with snow removal, provide janitorial support.
• Complete service requests in common areas and resident units in a timely manner.
• Prepare apartments for move-in and repair or replace unit mechanical components.

The Maintenance Assistant will report directly to the Head of Maintenance and Property Manager and support the maintenance and physical upkeep of a residential property in Chicago’s West Loop. The Maintenance Assistant will complete work orders, maintain common areas, respond to emergency calls, coordinate with vendors on turnover schedules, and assist the Head of Maintenance as needed. The ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing responsibilities, and maintain a positive attitude is essential. Strong communication, organizational, and basic computer skills are also key.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with staff, vendors, contractors, and residents to promote and maintain the safety, cleanliness, and upkeep of the building, including daily property walks, equipment assessments, work orders, and preventive maintenance
• Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies in accordance with documented procedures
• Prepare incident reports, perform fire safety inspections, assist with snow removal, and provide janitorial support as needed
• Complete service requests in common areas and resident units in a timely manner
• Prepare apartments for move-in and repair or replace unit mechanical components as needed

Qualifications

Compensation

• Hourly Rate Range for this position: $20.00 - $28.00
