Job summary

The Carriages of Bloomington is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to keep our residence and grounds in good repair and provide safe, comfortable environments for residents. You will perform general maintenance including minor plumbing, painting, drywall, and light electrical work, and prepare vacant rooms for new residents.

Hours are 8:00am–4:30pm, Monday through Friday. This is a full-time, on-site role with safety and OSHA guidelines as a priority, and requires background checks and health

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of general maintenance experience.
• Experience with drywall, plumbing, painting, and light electrical work.
• Ability to be a self-starter and make independent decisions.
• Capable of following through with projects with minimal supervision after explanation and demonstration if needed.
• High school diploma required.
• Background checks and health screenings (criminal, fingerprinting, physical, drug test, TB) are mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Perform general maintenance and repairs, including minor plumbing, painting, drywall, and light electrical work.
• Maintain the residence, common areas, and grounds in a clean, safe, and well-maintained condition.
• Prepare vacant rooms or apartments for new residents.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and repair needs.
• Follow all safety, fire, and OSHA guidelines, including proper handling of materials and equipment.
• Provide safe transportation for residents to appointments, outings, and activities.
• Assist residents when entering and exiting vehicles, including use of wheelchair lifts when needed.
• Complete routine inspections and report any safety concerns or needed repairs.
• Support a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for residents, families, and staff.

The Carriages of Bloomington is growing our TEAM and we are looking for exceptional individuals to fill our Maintenance Assistant position. We take pride in providing our Residents with quality care, sensitivity, and kindness while respecting their independence.

The Maintenance Assistant is required to keep the residence and grounds in good repair in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations; maintain a clean and safe environment for residents; prepare vacant rooms/apartments for new residents and respond promptly to all repair needs.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

• Knowledge of Safety and fire codes.
• OSHA andMSDS sheets.
• Familiarity with memory care residents preferred.
• On-call rotation every other week once acclimated to the community, with possible on-site weekend rotation if needed.
• Hours are 8:00am–4:30pm, Monday through Friday.
