Johns Island Post Acute Maintenance Assistant Job Description

Johns Island Post Acute is a beautiful 132-bed skilled nursing and rehab facility located in Johns Island, SC, just 10 minutes from historic downtown Charleston.

We are seeking a dependable and motivated Maintenance Assistant to help keep our building safe, clean, and operational for our residents and staff. If you are a hands-on problem-solver who enjoys fixing things and making spaces better, we would love to meet you!

Responsibilities:

• Assist with general maintenance and light repairs (plumbing, electrical, painting, etc.)
• Respond positively to work orders and requests
• Maintain the upkeep of the building and outdoor areas
• Support event setups for residents' activities
• Ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance with codes
• Collaborate with a respectful and team-oriented staff

Qualifications:

• Some experience in maintenance or handyman work
• Basic skills in plumbing, painting, or general repairs
• Friendly, team-focused attitude
• Good time management and reliability
• Physical ability to lift, move, and perform manual tasks
• Experience in senior living or healthcare settings is a plus

Additional Duties:

Follow maintenance schedules, report accidents, coordinate with nursing staff, perform routine maintenance, ensure safety protocols, and maintain confidentiality of resident information. Other related duties may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications and Work Environment:

• Minimum 10th grade education
• Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions, and work tactfully with residents and staff
• Ability to apply basic math concepts and solve practical problems
• Physical ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds
• Work typically in a low to moderate noise environment
