Job summary

A-Line EDS in Waterloo, IA is seeking a mechanically minded trainee for a maintenance role on first shift. No prior experience required; you will learn by doing with hands-on training from experienced mechanics.

You will assist with inspections, basic repairs, and parts picking, while developing your skills and safety habits. Valid driver's license and ability to lift are required; excellent long-term career potential.

Qualifications

• No experience required; training provided.
• Must be mechanically inclined and able to learn practical skills.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks outdoors/in shop.

Responsibilities

• Assist with DOT inspections and repairs on trucks and heavy equipment.
• Inspect industrial equipment, identify issues, and help with troubleshooting.
• Support building and grounds maintenance as needed.
• Pickup parts and supplies to keep maintenance moving.
• Learn to use tools and equipment safely while developing skills.

You don't need years of experience to get started! We're looking for someone who is mechanically inclined, enjoys working with their hands, and wants to build a long-term career in maintenance.

What We Offer:

• $19.00 per hour
• 1st Shift | Monday-Friday | 6:45 AM-4:30 PM
• Hands-on training from experienced mechanics

What You'll Do:

• Assist with DOT inspections and repairs on semi trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
• Learn to inspect industrial equipment, identify potential issues, and assist with troubleshooting and repairs.
• Support building and grounds maintenance as needed.
• Pick up parts and supplies to keep maintenance work moving.
• Learn to use tools and equipment safely while developing your mechanical skills.

What We're Looking For:

• A mechanical mindset and an interest in figuring out how things work.
• A desire in developing a career in maintenance or becoming a mechanic.
• Is dependable, safety-conscious, and willing to learn.
• A valid driver's license.
• Ability to work a physically demanding role that involves standing, walking and lifting.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and indoors in a maintenance shop where noise, grease, dirt, and other industrial conditions are present.
