Role Overview:
This position is responsible for the overall development, execution and maintenance of facilities and maintenance budgets for Devens and North Andover facilities. It has a leading role in analyzing the facility infrastructure for deficiencies and inefficiencies, as well as designing methods for evaluating the facility's condition. The position is also responsible for designing and implementing predictive and preventative plans and procedures focusing on minimizing the occurrence of adverse effects that could affect the operation of the facility. This manager makes recommendations to senior management with an eye to prioritizing and improving the overall working function of every aspect of the physical plant. It is directly responsible for the overall health and safety of all maintenance personnel and onsite contractors at both New England facilities. The position oversees the functioning of all facilities systems and physical infrastructure including mechanical, HVAC systems, fire and safety systems, utility supply and distribution and all facility and operational equipment. It ensures facilities installations and operations as well as maintenance execution comply with all local, state, and federal regulations and laws.
Depending on needs of the business, this role has the expectation of weekend support and off-hours support.
Core Responsibilities:
- Manage direct reports and oversee all on demand and preventive maintenance work at the Devens and North Andover sites.
- Ensure adherence to the site safe work system, management of change system, and quality system for all maintenance and assigned project work.
- Support EHS initiatives, programs, and any necessary reporting of required environmental reports.
- Ensure an adequate training program is in place and being followed for the maintenance organization.
- Supports audits and inspections from all regulatory bodies and customers.
- Develop and oversee asset reliability programs as part of asset life cycle management.
- Establish and oversee preventative maintenance and spare parts programs for facilities, operations, and labs to prevent unnecessary or unplanned downtime.
- Oversee and guide the calibration program for facilities, operations, and commercial labs to ensure all manufacturing equipment and associated equipment are always within calibration to prevent downtime and manufacturing deviations.
- Oversee selection, scope of work development, and contracting for all facilities, maintenance, and calibration suppliers.
- Support the development and maintenance of the Site Master Plan with respect to asset integrity management and related future capital projects.
- Execute and provide technical expertise for maintenance and facility related investigations ensures assigned corrective and preventative actions are executed on time and in compliance with quality and regulatory requirements.
- Support and contribute to CAPEX projects related to Facilities Support Systems, and the equipment life-cycle aspects in other capital projects.
- Oversee or manage maintenance type capital projects as directed.
- Develop an annual maintenance budget and monitors spending against it
- Establish and maintain utilities monitoring systems and contributes to usage reduction programs.
- Oversee and refine usage of the computerized maintenance management system.
- Regularly works with moving mechanical parts.
- Promote Veranova’s core values and enforce Veranova’s life saving policies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a maintenance management people-leader role.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing operation.
- Project management experience
- Must have experience with financial and budget tasks.
- Ability to manage, lead, and mentor staff, assess all aspects of performance, and provide timely feedback
- Experience with computerize maintenance management systems
- Ability to develop, refine, and implement preventative and predictive maintenance, and calibration systems and programs.
- Must be able to multitask and manage or oversee multiple projects and tasks at the same time.
- Strong technical, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills are needed in order to communicate effectively and collaborate across the organization.
- Must have experience using a quality management system.
- Must have familiarity with cGMP concepts.
- Must have strong computer skills and working knowledge of MS Office Suite Products.
- While performing the duties of this job it is required to stand, walk, and use hands to operate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands or arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch when necessary for job activity.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include near, distance, peripheral, color perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Preferred
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent
- Experience with OSHA PSM
- Lean Six Sigma certification
