Job summary

Bedford Care Centers is seeking a dedicated supervisor to oversee Maintenance, Housekeeping, and Laundry services in a long-term care facility. You will manage staffing, order supplies, monitor par levels, and direct daily work to keep buildings and equipment in good repair.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred; supervisory experience preferred.
• Able to obtain required certificates and pass drug screen; good physical condition.
• Experience with maintenance tasks in a long term care facility.
• Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
• Experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other facility systems.

Responsibilities

• Learn and maintain familiarity with Evacuation, Disaster, Fire Safety Plans; assist with staff training.
• Ensure compliance with dress code; present neat appearance with Name Badge.
• Clean up liquids on floors promptly and guard area while housekeeping is alerted.
• Provide safety orientation and department-specific training; assist with in-services.
• Supervise Maintenance, Housekeeping, Laundry staff; evaluate performance.
• Conduct daily rounds to ensure tasks are completed under your supervision.
• Maintain inventory and safely store equipment and supplies.
• Coordinate with Administrator on schedules and interim supervision for departments.
• Correct hazardous conditions and report unresolved problems to Administrator.
• Direct periodic cleaning of wheelchairs and equipment; ensure sanitization as scheduled.
• Attend in-service training and maintain certifications; stay aware of industry trends.
• Assist Social Services and Activity Department with holidays and special events.
• Ensure safe operation of utilities and inspect gas, water, electric, heating, and fire systems.

Job Summary

Qualifications

Prefer at least high school or GED; experience in related supervisory position preferred; must be able to obtain any required certificates; must be in good physical condition, able to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions at a level necessary to accomplish job duties; must have experience with carpentry, plumbing, electricity, heating, air conditioning, electronics, housekeeping and laundry operations in a long term care facility; must pass drug screens and have satisfactory Criminal History Background Check

Duties & Responsibilities

• Learns and maintains familiarity with Evacuation Plan, Disaster Plan, Fire Safety Policies and assists with Orientation, training and In-services of all employees

• Complies with dress code and presents a neat, clean appearance at all times with Name Badge

• Immediately ensures liquids on floor are cleaned and/or guards area while someone notifies Housekeeping

• Provides Safety Orientation and training for all personnel, Department-specific training for Maintenance, Housekeeping, Laundry staff and assists with any In-Services as requested

• Supervises Maintenance, Housekeeping, Laundry Personnel, evaluates performance, recommends disciplinary action to Administrator as needed

• Conducts walking rounds daily to ensure work is being completed under your responsibilities

• Maintains necessary inventory by ordering, receiving and checking in related supplies and equipment; safely stores and organizes equipment and supplies

• Consults with the Administrator regarding work schedules and who serves as interim Supervisor(s) for Environmental Departments in your absence

• Corrects and/or repairs any hazardous condition, equipment; reports to the Administrator any problem that cannot be promptly resolved

• Directs and assists with periodic cleaning and sanitizing of wheelchairs and other equipment as scheduled and/or as needed

• Attends in-service training, workshops and seminars as directed by Administrator, and/or as needed to acquire and maintain any needed Certification and to maintain awareness of industry trends and developments

• Assists Social Services and Activity Department regarding holiday and other special activities

• Ensures and maintains the safe operation and delivery system of the gas, water, electric, lighting, heating, air conditioning, sewage disposal and fire alarm system and inspects each of these regularly with documentation
