Job summary

Modine Manufacturing Company is seeking a skilled maintenance technician for our Buena Vista, Virginia facility. You will dismantle, move, install and repair machines, perform welding, and lay out utility lines while reading blueprints and working with electricians and other maintenance staff.

The role requires lifting heavy loads, operating powered industrial trucks, and interpreting micrometers and gauges.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics.
• Experience with maintenance welding preferred.
• Ability to operate powered industrial trucks.

Position Description

Dismantles, moves, installs, and repairs machines, power shafting, pulleys, conveyors, hoists, and other equipment using a variety of power and hand tools. Performs maintenance welding on equipment and building. Lays out and runs water, gas, steam, and air lines. Required to troubleshoot equipment as necessary as well as performing preventative maintenance on regular basis. Often has to lift heavy loads and work in awkward positions including stooping, crawling, and climbing. Inspects equipment for small cracks and holes. Uses sophisticated measuring devices and micrometers and calibers. Works from blueprints to install and troubleshoot equipment. Uses powered industrial trucks and manual hand trucks to transport equipment. Works closely with Electricians and other maintenance mechanics. Reports improper equipment operation to Supervisor. Due to the changing nature of maintenance work, must be able to complete any workshops, seminars, etc. as deemed necessary. Records time and production and performs other duties as necessary.

Key Responsibilities

Experience or Training Required

Requires reading, writing, adding, subtracting, ability to operate powered industrial trucks and manual
hand trucks, ability to operate welding equipment, ability to read blueprints, micrometers, and gauges,
and following of instructions. Must be able to successfully master all elements of training control
document for this job.

Essential Job Functions (the fundamental job duties)

1. Dismantles, moves, installs, and repairs machines, power shafting, pulleys, conveyors, hoists, and other equipment using a variety of hand and power tools.
2. Performs frequent maintenance welding on equipment and building.
3. Lays out and runs water, gas, steam, and air lines working from prints.
4. Troubleshoots all plant equipment as necessary, and performs preventative maintenance on a regular basis.
5. Works from blueprints often to install and troubleshoot equipment.
6. Frequently works with Electricians and other maintenance mechanics.
7. Regularly operates powered industrial trucks and manual hand trucks and overhead hoists while performing various duties.
8. Reports improper equipment operation and defective equipment to Supervisor. 9. Records time and production.
10. Works eight-hour shift concurrently with other plant operations. Periodic daily and weekend overtime as production schedules demand.
11. May be assigned task of training new/transferred employees as required.
12. Other essential functions as may be assigned.
