Job summary

The Advance Group is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician in Romulus, MI to perform preventative maintenance and diagnose equipment issues on production machinery.

The role requires hands-on experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, welding, and electrical repairs, with a schedule Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM. Pay ranges from $25 to $30 per hour and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years of industrial or mechanical maintenance experience.
• Hands-on hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical systems, and basic electrical repairs.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial production equipment.
• Welding, metalworking, and fabrication experience.
• Ability to read equipment drawings and maintenance instructions.
• Strong verbal communication and ability to work independently or on a team.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work at heights.

What Does an Industrial Maintenance Technician Do?

An Industrial Maintenance Technician performs preventative maintenance, diagnoses equipment problems, and repairs industrial machinery and facility equipment to minimize downtime and keep production operations running safely and efficiently. In this role, you will maintain plant machinery, troubleshoot mechanical and basic electrical issues, perform equipment repairs, and support daily manufacturing operations.

Industrial Maintenance Technician Job Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and routine maintenance on production machinery and facility equipment.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and basic electrical problems.
• Repair and maintain electric motors, bearings, gearboxes, belts, pulleys, conveyors, elevators, screening units, crushing equipment, and packaging equipment.
• Maintain forklifts and forklift rotators.
• Operate welding equipment, drill presses, grinders, hand tools, bucket lifts, and forklifts as needed.
• Perform minor metal fabrication projects and equipment modifications.
• Maintain maintenance tools, the maintenance crib, parts inventory, and supply orders.
• Document completed repairs and report maintenance issues to the Plant Manager.
• Follow plant safety, health, and environmental programs.
• Complete repairs accurately and efficiently to reduce equipment downtime and support production goals.

Industrial Maintenance Technician Qualifications

Qualified candidates should have:

• At least 5 years of industrial maintenance or mechanical maintenance experience.
• Hands‑on experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical systems, and basic electrical repairs.
• Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial production equipment.
• Welding, metalworking, and fabrication experience.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, equipment drawings, and maintenance instructions.
• Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and work at heights of up to 40 feet.
• Comfort working around moving mechanical parts and in dusty industrial environments.
• Ability to complete maintenance repairs correctly and efficiently to minimize production downtime.
• A technical trade certificate or post‑secondary education in a related field is a plus.

Pay, Schedule, and Work Environment

Pay: $25–$30 per hour, depending on experience. Location: Romulus, Michigan. Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM. Overtime: As needed. Work Environment: Industrial manufacturing and processing facility with moving machinery, dusty conditions, and work at elevated heights.
