Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Denver, CO is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Technician responsible for preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment. This role involves troubleshooting low voltage circuits, VFDs, motor controls, and PLCs, and requires strong electrical aptitude.

The position is a 3rd shift (10 pm–6 am) with overtime potential, a union shop, and a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, 401(k) and pension.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years of electro-mechanical troubleshooting experience with focus on electrical/electronic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery including drives and PLCs.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment.
• Troubleshoot low voltage circuits, analog devices, VFDs, and motor control circuitry to identify root causes.
• Inspect belts, gearboxes, chains, and bearings; repair non-production area equipment as needed.
• Utilize CMMS for work orders, recordkeeping, and project planning.
• Drive PLC troubleshooting and installation; maintain line voltage equipment.
• Read and interpret electrical/mechanical drawings and support equipment preventive maintenance.

location: 5050 E 50th Ave, Denver CO

Shift: Nights, 10 pm - 6 am

Overtime: 1 Saturday a Month, and both Saturday & Sunday once a quarter.

Training: will take several weeks, and will take place during daytime hours.

Starting Pay: $30.46 - $34.81 an hour

The Electrical Maintenance Technician will have complete involvement in routine or emergency maintenance as well as corrective, preventive, predictive maintenance and care for all electrical and mechanical equipment and their related controls.

Responsabiliti es:

• Performs preventive maintenance procedures on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment on a scheduled basis; Inspects belts, gearboxes, chains, bearings, etc.
• Troubleshootin g of low voltage circuits, analog devices, VFDs, and motor control circuitry to obtain a root cause of failures.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and devices to determine faults and failures.
• Regular repair and maintenance are required in non-production areas including the warehouse, design lab, building, and grounds.
• Uses CMMS system for work order i mplementation, recordkeeping of daily activities, and planned projects.
• Functional an operational knowledge, troubleshootin g, and repair of low voltage circuits, analog devices, VFDs, and motor control circuitry to obtain a root cause of failures.
• Functional and operational knowledge, troubleshootin g, repair, and maintaining of line voltage(120, 240, 277, and 480) equipment, including switches, power supplies, motors, drives and associated controls.
• Drive and PLC troubleshootin g, problem solving and installation.
• Experience with RS Logix, RS5000 and other drive interfaces software is a plus.
• Performs preventive maintenance procedures on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment on a scheduled basis; Inspects belts, gearboxes, chains, bearings, etc.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic and pneumatic circuits, and devices to determine faults and failures. Regular repair and maintenance are required in non-production areas including the warehouse, design lab, building, and grounds.

Requirements:

• 2 - 5 years of Electro-Mechan ical troubleshootin g experience with focus on electrical/ele ctronic preferred.
• An operational knowledge of automated industrial machinery which includes drives, PLC’s, VFD’s servos, relays, 3 phase power, communication devices, industrial / electronic controls and power transmission systems. Also, will require familiarity with motors, pumps, gear boxes, chains etc.
• A strong electrical aptitude for drive and PLC trouble shooting.
• Strong problem-solvin g ability of mechanical and electrical systems.
• A good understanding of heavy rotating equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Must be able to read and interpret both electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Must be computer literate with Microsoft environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a mature and respectful professional manner.
• Ability to work various shifts / overtime / days per week.

The salary range for this position is $30.46 - $34.81 per hour, depending on your role, level, and location. The benefits for this role may include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, vacations for the covered location will be provided based on the schedule below: Year 0 - 1 (5 days), and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change. Your actual pay will be based on your work location and other factors, such as your skills, experience, and education.
