Kenny Seng Construction, Inc. is hiring a Mainline Excavator Operator in Provo, Utah. This full-time role requires proven excavation experience, OSHA Competent Person certification, and a team-focused work ethic to safely install and trench waterline, sewer, and related utilities.

The ideal candidate will read project plans, maintain equipment readiness, and lead safety practices while collaborating with crew members to meet deadlines and deliver quality craftsmanship.

Qualifications

• OSHA Certified Competent Person for trenching and shoring.
• Proven experience in mainline excavation and pipe utilities.
• Positive, team-oriented mindset with the ability to follow directions.
• Effective communication with co-workers and supervisors.
• Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing.
• Physically able to stoop, bend, crouch, and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision excavation for mainline waterline, sewer, storm drain, and water pipe per plans.
• Excavate around existing utilities with high accuracy and safety.
• Apply trench depth, grade, compaction, and pipeline installation procedures.
• Serve as OSHA Competent Person for trenching/shoring and manage rigging/shoring practices.
• Maintain equipment knowledge to ensure fleet reliability.
• Read plans and coordinate crew to meet goals and deadlines.

Position Responsibilities

• Precision Excavation: Excavate line and grade for mainline waterline, sewer, storm drain, and water pipe according to project plans.
• Utility Safety: Masterfully excavate around existing utilities with high precision.
• Technical Implementation: Understand and execute trench depth, grade compaction, pothole procedures, and pipeline installation.
• Safety Leadership: Act as the OSHA Certified Competent Person for trenching and shoring; implement rigging and shoring practices to ensure a safe environment for all.
• Equipment Care: Maintain thorough knowledge of equipment maintenance to ensure fleet reliability.
• Project Oversight: Read plans accurately and keep the crew organized and on task to meet goals and deadlines.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Proven track record in mainline excavation and pipe utilities.
• Certification: OSHA Certified Competent Person for trenching and shoring.
• Attitude: A positive, team-oriented mindset with the ability to follow supervisor directions.
• Communication: Effective communication skills with co-workers and supervisors.
• Compliance: Must pass pre-employment and random drug/alcohol testing (Drug-Free Workplace).
• Physically, workers must be able to:
  • Stoop, bend, and crouch
  • Use hands, arms, and legs fully
  • See well (either naturally or with correction)
  • Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
