Job summary

Regions Bank is seeking a seasoned Mainframe Systems Engineer to install, maintain, and optimize our mainframe environment. You will drive stability, performance, and security while leading improvement efforts with cross-functional teams.

The role supports on-call coverage and requires experience with ZOS, CICS, MQ, and DB2. Located in the Hoover, AL area, the position can be remote with periodic on-site meetings as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 6+ years in mainframe infra software/hardware
• Experience installing and supporting mainframe products: ZOS, CICS, MQ, DB2, Storage, Automation, ZLINUX, Networking
• Experience in problem determination, disaster recovery, performance and tuning
• Experience opening, managing, solving and closing vendor issues

Responsibilities

• Evaluate system specifications and IO processes for hardware/software compatibility
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex mainframe issues
• Administer, configure, and maintain mainframe systems including OS and software
• Monitor and adjust mainframe OS performance for efficiency
• Maintain installation records and best practices documentation
• Develop backup and disaster recovery strategies for business continuity
• On-call 24x7 with SEV1 incident support
• Ensure compliance with risk management and cybersecurity practices
