Mainframe Systems Architect

Location: Remote

Employment Type: Long Term Contract

Join our team as a Mainframe Systems Architect and play a critical role in integrating mainframe compute and storage capacity into a next-generation environment following our latest acquisition. You'll be at the forefront of analyzing, designing, and optimizing the mainframe infrastructure while partnering with cross-functional teams and vendors to drive technical success.

• Evaluate vendor-proposed solutions for the mainframe environment.
• Define configuration needs, licensing, and resource planning.
• Lead capacity planning and performance analysis to meet operational and future scalability needs.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to finalize solution design and procurement strategies.
• Work with mainframe infrastructure teams to optimize hardware setups and reduce licensing costs.
• Analyze current software inventory to identify licensing synergies and opportunities.
• Partner with the Mainframe Software Specialist to align hardware and software strategies.
• Review and contribute to the mainframe hardware and software roadmap.
• Define the timeline and strategy for mainframe integration and lifecycle management.
• Collaborate with project teams to develop and implement a comprehensive roadmap for mainframe data integration and synchronization.
• Support solution implementation and ensure client success by aligning outcomes with business objectives.

What You Bring

• Proven experience as a Mainframe Systems Architect.
• Deep expertise in z/OS operating systems and components, including installation, upgrades, and technical support.
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in Mainframe (z/OS) system programming and architecture.
• In-depth knowledge of JES2, Parallel Sysplex, Catalog management, and z/OS service structures.
• Strong experience supporting ISV products and performing system/product issue diagnosis and root cause analysis.
• Ability to drive cross-functional engineering solutions and collaborate across diverse teams.
• Solid project management skills with a history of delivering technical outcomes on time and within budget.
