Job summary
A technology company in New York is seeking a Mainframe Support Engineer to manage critical mainframe environments. Responsibilities include incident resolution, system monitoring, and collaboration with development and operations teams. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, over 3 years of mainframe support experience, and proficiency with JCL and COBOL. A willingness to participate in 24x7 on-call support is required.
Qualifications
3+ years of hands-on experience supporting mainframe platforms (z/OS).
Willingness to participate in a 24x7 on-call support rotation.
Responsibilities
Monitor daily batch schedules using Control-M and resolve scheduling failures.
Triage and resolve production incidents in z/OS, CICS, and DB2 environments.
Analyze system performance and capacity using SDSF and related tools.
Execute JCL, manage datasets and tapes, and apply OS/Subsystem maintenance.
Maintain and update run-books, SOPs, and support documentation.
Collaborate with application teams to diagnose defects, implement workarounds, and coordinate fixes.
Participate in on-call rotation for 24x7 support, including weekends and holidays.
Conduct root-cause analysis and implement improvements to reduce repeat incidents.
Work with security, audit, and compliance teams to enforce policies and complete health checks.
Mentor junior support staff and contribute to knowledge-sharing sessions.
