ARC Group is seeking a seasoned Mainframe Network Engineer for a full-time contract, offering remote work flexibility while supporting a complex IT environment. You will design, implement, monitor, and troubleshoot mainframe network solutions essential to enterprise operations and security.

The ideal candidate has 5-8 years of experience with z/OS environments, VTAM/SNA, TCP/IP, and related mainframe networking technologies.

Mainframe Network Engineer - Summary

Responsible for installation, configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance of mainframe network technology solutions. Plays a key role in process improvement, automation, and technical support for large-scale, mission-critical systems. Collaborates with IT and business partners to design and implement effective network solutions that support enterprise objectives. Ensures mainframe network systems are secure, reliable, and compliant with current architecture standards.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform installation, monitoring, testing, configuration, migration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of assigned mainframe technologies.
• Manage system and application environments, ensuring ongoing operations meet enterprise standards for stability and compliance.
• Utilize and troubleshoot technologies including z/OS 3.2 on IBM z/16 CPC, IBM z/OS SNA/VTAM, IBM Policy Agent, SMP/E, CA TPX, Sysplex, JES2, AT-TLS, QOS, IPsec, OMPR (OSPF), IBM Connect:Direct, Unix System Services (USS), OSA-ICC, TCP/IP, IC SF, SDSF, APPN network, and JCL/REXX scripting.
• Update and maintain VTAM, OMPR routing, EE connections, SSH, TN3270, telnet, FTP, FTPS, CSSMTP, OSA adapter configuration, Policy Agent, Connect:Direct v6r2, ZEN Network Monitor, CA TPX, IBM z/OS Communication Server, and related mainframe communication technologies.
• Proactively monitor and report on system performance and utilization.
• Resolve hardware and software issues, alerts, and escalated tickets in a timely manner.
• Develop, document, and enhance tactical strategies, processes, and procedures related to systems and application administration.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and exercises as needed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine best practices and drive infrastructure improvements.
• Provide training and act as a technical resource for other systems engineers.
• Contribute to infrastructure architecture design and ensure alignment with organizational blueprints and standards.
• Perform on-call activities as required for environment and technologies.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 5-8 years of related work experience in mainframe network engineering, or equivalent combination of transferable experience and proficiency in design, implementation, and troubleshooting of technology solutions.
• Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Extensive working knowledge of multiple technologies and their integration in large-scale systems.
• Proficiency in mainframe environments, especially those highly integrated with operating systems.
• Experience analyzing business requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
• Familiarity with Agile methodology for project management and delivery.
• System programming expertise with JCL, REXX, and strong scripting/programming skills.
• Permanent US work authorization required.
