IBM Mainframe Data Communication Analyst

Base pay range: $125,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr
We’re looking for a seasoned IBM Mainframe Data Communication Analyst with deep expertise in z/OS environments and enterprise networking. This role is critical to ensuring secure, efficient, and reliable data communication across our mainframe infrastructure. You’ll collaborate with cross‑functional teams, support modernization efforts, and play a key role in disaster recovery planning.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field
- 10+ years of experience in mainframe data communications
- Strong command of z/OS, JCL, CICS, IMS, VSAM, DB2, TSO/ISPF
- Proficiency in SAS, REXX, BAL
- Expertise in TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, VPNs
- Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, IBM NetView)
- Hands‑on with switches/routers (Cisco or equivalent)
- Familiarity with Connect:Direct (NDM), MSM, InterTest Batch, SMP/E
- Skilled in troubleshooting using IPCS and packet traces
- Experience with AT‑TLS, cipher application, and certificate management
- Knowledge of Sysplex networking (Dynamic VIPA, Sysplex Distributor, HiperSockets)
- Experience supporting USS file systems in shared environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Cisco CCNA or CompTIA Network+ certification
- Training from IBM Z Mainframe Skills Depot
- Familiarity with hybrid cloud networking and IBM Z cloud integration
Responsibilities
- Design and implement secure, scalable data communication networks
- Monitor and troubleshoot mainframe and network performance
- Support enterprise‑wide data flow and system reliability
- Maintain detailed documentation of configurations and processes
- Develop REXX utilities to streamline operations
- Support disaster recovery procedures and governance audits
- Install, configure, and maintain mainframe networking components
- Participate in on‑call rotation and respond to incidents
- Communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders
