Job summary

UNICON is seeking a Mainframe Developer (Cobol) L3 to join our team in Torrance, CA. The role is onsite with four days per week in the office, focusing on production support and project work for mainframe systems.

You will analyze business requirements, design solutions, and execute testing across multiple phases (unit, integration, system, UAT) while collaborating with the Project Manager and team members.

Qualifications

• Proficient in COBOL, CICS, JCL, IMS, VSAM, DB2 and SDLC concepts.
• Experience with Microsoft development technologies (.Net Core, MVC.Net, C#, Angular) is a plus.
• Familiarity with Waterfall and Agile methodologies; knowledge of automotive parts, warehousing, or supply chain is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Production support and project work on mainframe applications.
• Analyze requirements, design solutions, perform unit/integration/system testing, and implement enhancements.
• Coordinate with Project Manager/Lead and other team members to deliver 100+ hour enhancements when required.

Job Title: Mainframe Developer (Cobol) L3

Location: Torrance, CA

Work Model: Onsite

Compensation: $117-122k

Position Overview

Successful candidate will assume the role of Mainframe Systems SME and assist the Project Manager and/or Team Manager on various Parts Applications projects. Ability to analyze business requirements and create and manage the completion of units of work completed by the successful candidate and other team members. Assigned units of work vary from > 100 hour enhancements, up to team member on a large project. Responsible for gathering requirements, functional and Detailed analysis/design, testing (unit, integration, system, user acceptance), implementation, documentation, warranty. Defining architectural solutions to meet application requirements. Providing status to Project Manager/Lead, as needed.

Analysis/Design roughly 30-40%, Development (code, unit test, int test, system test, UAT, Implement, Warranty) roughly 30-40%, Architectural solutions roughly 20-40%

What’s Needed

Proficient in COBOL,CICS, JCL, IMS, VSAM,DB2, and System Development Life Cycle Concepts. Experience working in Microsoft development technologies i.e. .Net core, MVC.Net, C#, Angular is a plus. Working knowledge of software engineering, software development, solution architecture and implementation of medium to large scale systems across multiple platforms Ability to collaborate with multiple disciplines across the enterprise Understanding of technology strategy, technology standards, roadmaps, and practices Technical aptitude of multi�?tier and cross�?platform architectures across the enterprise. Understanding in the information technology landscape �?stretching from infrastructure, network, client, server, emerging technology standards and trends. Experience with Waterfall and Agile methodology. Knowledge or Automotive parts Systems, Warehousing and Supply Chain is a plus.
