Job summary

ReqRoute,Inc. seeks an experienced Mainframe Developer to design, develop, and support applications on the IBM Mainframe z/OS platform. The role demands COBOL, JCL, DB2, and SAS expertise with hands-on use of key utilities.

You will analyze requirements, implement efficient solutions, and participate in code reviews and performance tuning. The position is 100% onsite in Chicago, IL, for a 6‑month contract with strong focus on reliability and documentation.

Qualifications

Mainframe Developer

Location: Chicago, IL - 100% Onsite
Duration: 6 months (contract)
Experience Required: 8 10+ years

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Developer to design, develop, maintain, and enhance applications on the IBM Mainframe z/OS platform. The role requires strong expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, and SAS, along with hands‑on experience using key mainframe utilities and diagnostic tools.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and SAS
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into efficient technical solutions
• Perform code reviews, debugging, and performance tuning using tools such as Fault Analyzer and File Manager
• Manage and maintain source code using PANVALET and related utilities
• Ensure adherence to coding standards, security guidelines, and best practices

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands‑on experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, and SAS
• Ability to read and analyze SAS programs
• Proficiency with mainframe utilities and tools including PANVALET, Fault Analyzer, and File Manager
• Solid understanding of batch and online processing in mainframe environments
• Experience working on IBM Mainframe z/OS operating systems
• Ability to analyze complex systems and troubleshoot issues efficiently
• Strong communication and documentation skills

Preferred Qualifications
