Job summary

McDonald Mazda South is seeking an automotive technician to diagnose and repair vehicles to manufacturer specifications using infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices.

You will explain technical diagnoses to customers, work with a variety of makes and models, and contribute to a friendly, family‑owned culture that values integrity and service.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair vehicles to specifications using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers and diagnostic devices.
• Tear down, repair, replace, and rebuild faulty assemblies (power, steering, pistons, etc.).
• Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels; repair transmissions.
• Explain diagnoses and repairs clearly to non-technical customers.

Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair vehicles to specifications, using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices.
• Tear down, repair, replace, and/or rebuild faulty assemblies such as power systems, steering systems, linkages, pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings.
• Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels and repair manual and automatic transmissions.
• Adequately explain the technical diagnosis and required repairs to non‑mechanical individuals.

Experience & Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• 1‑3 years of automotive technician experience is required.
• Ability to drive and handle various vehicle makes, models, and sizes.
• Mechanical and troubleshooting skills and ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment; team‑oriented, flexible, and focused on maintaining a high level of customer service.
• Working knowledge of shop equipment such as wheel and tire equipment, electrical, engine, alignment systems, diagnostic equipment, and AC equipment.

Compensation Overview

Average compensation for this position is $30 – $45 per flat rate hour.
