McDonald Mazda South, a family‑owned dealership near Broadway and Belleview, is seeking an automotive technician to diagnose and repair vehicles using advanced diagnostic equipment. The role involves teardown and rebuilding of assemblies, reworking power systems, transmissions, and electrical wiring, with emphasis on clear communication of diagnoses to non‑mechanical staff.

Average compensation is $30–$45 per flat‑rate hour, with potential bonuses and overtime.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• 1–3 years automotive technician experience.
• Ability to drive and work on various vehicle makes, models, and sizes.
• Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills, and ability to use electronic diagnostic equipment.
• Team‑oriented, flexible, and committed to high customer service.
• Working knowledge of shop equipment: wheel and tire tools, electrical, engine, alignment systems, diagnostic, AC equipment, etc.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair vehicles using equipment such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices.
• Tear down, repair, replace, or rebuild faulty assemblies—including power systems, steering systems, linkages, pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings.
• Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels, and repair manual and automatic transmissions.
• Explain technical diagnoses and required repairs to non‑mechanical personnel.
