Job summary

Management & Training Corporation (MTC)–Bay Correctional Facility in Panama City, FL is hiring a Mailroom Clerk responsible for coordinating mail services and processing inmate correspondence in a secure facility. The role reports to the mailroom supervisor and requires adherence to FDOC and DMS directives.

Pay is $17.05 per hour, full-time, Monday–Friday, with a benefits package including health/dental/vision/life insurance, a 401(k) match, PTO and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior experience in a correctional setting preferred.
• Valid Florida driver’s license with acceptable driving record required unless waived by management.

Responsibilities

• Process all incoming and outgoing inmate correspondence; prepare forms and maintain related records.
• Perform administrative duties to ensure processing of offender correspondence in compliance with Florida codes and FDOC/DMS directives.
• Review incoming books for offender receipt; inspect and maintain records related to processing inmate correspondence and mailroom activities.
• Sort, open, inspect and scan inmate correspondence; deliver inmate mail; maintain related records.
• Requires pushing/pulling mail carts, carrying mail bins, lifting/moving packages; climbing stairs and long periods of walking/standing.
• Act as authorized courier for receipt of registered or special mail for employees and/or inmates.
