Job summary

UPS in Windsor, CT seeks a Postal Operations Supervisor to oversee mail receiving, processing, sorting and shipping, ensuring USPS compliance and on-time delivery. You will supervise staff and contract personnel, train on-site teams, and coordinate with facility administration.

This role requires leadership, strong communication, and the ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment; shift is Mon–Fri 5 pm–1 am, with relocation flexibility within the area.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of management/supervisory experience in a production or processing environment, with demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, etc. — Required.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills; excellent interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises staff in mail receiving, processing, sorting and shipping operations in a timely, cost-effective manner per procedures and USPS requirements.
  • Meets or exceeds productivity goals for mail operations functions.
  • Ensures accuracy of direct mail processing and preparation in accordance with USPS requirements and customer requests.
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with customer staff, USPS staff and vendors.
  • Trains on-site staff and follows up to ensure work is accurate and complete.
  • Ensures operational supplies are on-hand and available at all times.
  • Plans and recommends appropriate staff levels according to workload.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly environment in all operations areas.
  • Maintains confidentiality of internal systems, procedures, customer data and personnel information.
  • Works with only broad supervision.

Job Summary

This position works in the UPS Mail Innovations Regional Processing Facility. He/She has key responsibilities in supervising operations related to mail receiving, processing, sorting and shipping operations, as well coordinating with facility administrative activities. This position make decisions based upon broad guidelines, practical experience and sound business judgments. He/She is responsible for supervision, training and/or development of facility operations employees and contract staff. This position evaluates problems involving multiple functional areas of mail operations and logistics, while striving to maintain customer retention through sound judgment and effective problem solving skills.

Responsibilities
  • Supervises activities of staff in mail receiving, processing, sorting and shipping operations in a timely, cost effective manner, consistent with established operations procedures and USPS requirements.

  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships as needed with customer operational staff, applicable USPS staff and vendors.
  • Trains assigned on-site staff and follow-up to ensure work is accurate and complete.
  • Assures operational supplies are on-hand and available at all times.
  • Plans and recommends appropriate staff levels consistent with workload demands.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly environment in all operations areas of the Regional Processing Facility.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all internal systems, procedures, customer data and personnel information.
  • Works with only broad supervision.
Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of mail processing services, systems, procedures and operations equipment
  • Working knowledge of USPS requirements in the preparation of Standard Mail and parcels
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Flexible and adaptive to changing work requirements
  • One (1) year of management/supervisory experience in a production or processing environment, with demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Access, Outlook, etc. and other basic computer skills. – Required.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills. – Required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills. – Required.

  • Job Grade: 20C (Supervisor)
  • This is not a remote position. Must be currently located in the same geographic location as the job or willing to self-relocate – Required.
  • Shift: Monday – Friday, 5 pm to 1 am

Pay Range

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $65.940,00/year to $107.160,00/year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to, market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and education/training and a candidate’s work experience. Hired applicants are offered annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs, subject to applicable eligibility requirements. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
