Job summary

Vulcan Elements is seeking an Applications Engineer to drive the technical progression of customer programs from initial engagement through qualification and production.

You will bridge customers, commercial teams, and internal engineering to translate requirements into high-performance magnet solutions. This role sits on the Commercial Development team and supports fast-moving timelines and ramping production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is required.
• 5+ years in a customer-facing engineering or applications role.
• Experience with manufactured components in production environments (magnets, metals, ceramics).
• Ability to read technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Experience collaborating cross-functionally with manufacturing and quality teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills with root cause investigations.
• Excellent communication with customers.

Responsibilities

• Understand application requirements and identify suitable magnet solutions.
• Provide guidance on magnet materials, grades, coatings, and performance.
• Serve as the technical contact between customers, commercial teams, and internal engineering.
• Translate customer needs into manufacturable technical requirements for production and materials teams.
• Coordinate with R&D, manufacturing, and quality to align with customer requirements.
• Support prototyping, testing, validation, and qualification activities.
• Drive timely resolution of issues across internal teams.
• Own execution of customer programs from engagement through production release.
