Job summary

The 12th Judicial District Attorney's Office is seeking an in-house, dedicated and motivated Assistant Trial Attorney to join our team and manage the Lincoln County Magistrate Court.

This position offers experience in charging decisions, plea negotiations, motions, and regular court appearances, with frequent jury trials in a fast-paced environment. Requirements include J.D. and NM license; preferred one year legal experience; location Carrizozo, NM; full-time, 8-5, salary $90,000 per year.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and current license to practice law in New Mexico.
• Knowledge of criminal prosecution, rules of evidence and criminal procedure.
• Ability to draft legal documents and communicate effectively.
• Ability to research and analyze information and situations.
• Ability to work independently within established guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Prosecute cases in Lincoln County Magistrate Court and handle all aspects of criminal prosecution.
• Conduct case review, charging decisions, plea negotiations, and motion practice.
• Represent the office in regular court appearances and jury trials.
• Coordinate with supervising attorneys and other criminal justice agencies.
