Job summary

12th Judicial District Attorney's Office is seeking an in-house Assistant Trial Attorney to manage the Lincoln County Magistrate Court in Carrizozo, NM. You will handle all aspects of criminal prosecution, including case review, charging decisions, plea negotiations, motion practice, and regular court appearances. The role offers frequent jury trial opportunities to strengthen trial advocacy skills.

Minimum qualifications include a J.D. and current New Mexico license to practice law.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree and current license to practice law in New Mexico.
• This position requires the ability to manage all aspects of criminal prosecution within the Magistrate Court and work with other criminal justice agencies.

Responsibilities

• Handle all aspects of criminal prosecution within the Lincoln County Magistrate Court, including case review, charging decisions, plea negotiations, motion practice and regular court appearances.
• Participate in jury trials to develop trial and courtroom advocacy skills.
• Work independently within guidelines and seek guidance from supervisor or higher-level attorneys.
