MacOS Infrastructure Engineer — Fleet & Data Center

Job summary

Clera in San Francisco is seeking a senior infrastructure engineer focused on macOS systems, fleet management and data center infrastructure. You will own provisioning, monitoring, networking and hardware lifecycle for AI infrastructure at scale.

You will design a Mac fleet, build automation, and enable secure device enrollment, MDM and macOS updates, while scaling data center operations and improving incident response and documentation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in infrastructure or platform engineering for production systems at scale.
• Deep understanding of macOS architecture, services, permissions and diagnostics.
• Hands-on experience building and debugging software in C, Swift, Objective-C.
• Experience with MDM, Apple Business Manager, automated device enrollment and profiles.
• Experience designing or operating data center infrastructure: networking, power, cooling.
• Familiarity with fleet-scale challenges, drift, staged updates and remote recovery.
• Strong automation mindset to convert recurring tasks into software.
• Comfort writing code and diagnosing networks while working with hardware.
• Experience designing infra with limited off-the-shelf support is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and expand a Mac fleet with hardware, capacity, reliability and efficiency.
• Build management agents and automation for provisioning, configuration, deployments and health checks.
• Develop workflows for device enrollment, MDM, configuration profiles and macOS updates.
• Plan and operate data center infrastructure including rack layouts, cabling, switching, power and cooling.
• Diagnose and resolve problems across macOS services, networking, and hardware.
• Improve monitoring, incident response, recovery procedures and documentation as scale grows.
