Job summary

xenergy seeks an experienced CNC Programmer/Machinist for our XTAC Workshop Facility. You will program, set up, and operate advanced CNC equipment to manufacture high-precision components, while supporting engineering and testing activities.

You will read engineering drawings, develop toolpaths, design fixtures, and perform inspections with precision instruments, ensuring quality and traceability in a safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

  • Fifteen plus years of relevant experience in CNC programming and machine setup.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, NX, or equivalent).
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve routine machine and programming issues.
  • Experience using precision measuring devices and inspection tools.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures and PPE in a shop environment.
  • Capability to document data and maintain traceability.

Job Description

The CNC Programmer/Machinist is responsible for programming, setting up, operating, and maintaining advanced CNC machining equipment within the XTAC Workshop Facility. This role supports the manufacturing of high-precision components and contributes directly to engineering and testing activities. The position requires strict adherence to safety protocols, accurate data collection, and proactive equipment care to ensure consistent, high-quality output. This position will report to the Workshop Manager

Job Profile Tasks/Responsibilities:
  • Execute the core tasks and responsibilities listed in the Job Profile Task/Responsibilities section of this document, with minimal supervision.
  • Understanding of shop PPE and safety
  • Responsible for verifying part conformance to model and/or blueprint.
  • Assist in quoting, lead times, and tooling selection
  • Provide part design concerns for manufacturing to Shop manager
Programming & Machining Operations

Develop CNC programs using CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, Siemens NX, etc.) to produce efficient and reliable toolpaths for complex components.

Independently set up and operate a variety of CNC and manual machines, including dual-spindle lathes and 5-axis mills, while maintaining required tolerances.

Perform machining operations such as milling, turning, drilling, tapping, reaming, boring, broaching, and machining of metallic and nonmetallic materials.

Design and produce custom fixturing/workholding solutions; mount, align, and secure tooling and workpieces for optimal performance.

Technical Interpretation & Collaboration

Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, GD&T symbols, and technical specifications to determine machining methods, tooling requirements, and sequencing.

Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and cross-functional teams to implement new processes, tooling concepts, and manufacturing technologies.

Contribute to continuous improvement efforts related to part machinability, process efficiency, and equipment utilization.

Quality Assurance & Documentation

Conduct in-process and final inspections using precision measurement tools (micrometers, height gauges, CMMs, etc.).

Document all work activities clearly, completely, and in accordance with company procedures and traceability requirements.

Identify, troubleshoot, and communicate equipment, process, or quality issues promptly to supervisors or engineering staff.

Equipment Care & Safety

Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs to ensure optimal machine performance.

Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs), safety protocols, and hazardous-materials handling requirements.

Maintain a clean, organized work area in compliance with safety and 5S/lean workplace standards.

Assist in training new team members on machine operation, shop practices, and safety procedures.

Maintain professional demeanor and behavior at all times in all forms of communication.

Perform other duties as assigned by manager.

Job Profile Minimum Qualifications:
  • The skills required for this role are typically demonstrated by 15 plus years of relevant experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Fifteen (15) years of experience in a manufacturing environment with CNC programming and machine setup responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, NX, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve routine machine, tooling, and programming issues independently.
  • Experience using precision measuring devices and inspection tools.
  • Ability to collect, record, and organize technical data with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Familiarity with industrial safety practices, emergency procedures, and hazardous-materials handling.
  • Ability to work with common hand tools and basic shop equipment.
  • Competence with basic computer applications and electronic data entry systems.
  • Ability to push, pull, move, or lift at least 50 lbs.
  • Willingness to obtain relevant technical and safety certifications (e.g., OSHA-30, forklift, hazardous materials, OEM machine certifications).
  • The skills required for this role are typically demonstrated by 15 plus years of relevant experience.
  • Fully capable of programming complex parts, on any machine.
  • CAM software certification (e.g., Mastercam Certified Programmer, Siemens NX CAM Certification)
  • Expert-level process planning from solid model to finished part.
  • Develop complex fixtures(pneumatic, hydraulic, etc.)
  • Develop and edit post processors as needed
  • Subject-matter expert on tool
