Job summary

JBT Marel in Richmond, VA is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to create new CNC programs and operator instructions for tooling production and spare/machine orders, and to update existing programs to meet current standards.

You will input manufacturing data into PRONET, help with machinability guidance, troubleshoot production issues, and contribute to SQDC reporting while maintaining safety and quality in a team environment.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Journeyman’s license in manufacturing (DOL) preferred/required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience operating a CNC machine with vertical or horizontal centers.
  • Experience using CNC programming software; SolidWorks/Autodesk and Feature CAM preferred.
  • Technical or Vocational School in manufacturing preferred.
  • Four years related work experience preferred; other studies may substitute.
  • Proficiency in CNC programming languages (G-Code, M-Code).
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM software and reading engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Create new CNC programs and operator instructions for tooling production.
  • Create CNC programs for spares and machines orders.
  • Update/modify existing CNC programs to meet current standards.
  • Input data into PRONET ERP system (manufacturing operations and material costs).
  • Log and report accurate work data in logs.
  • Collaborate with design team on machinability of components.
  • Troubleshoot production issues with CNC team; perform part inspections and respond to program change requests.
  • Participate in SQDC and RCI initiatives to improve processes.

Job description

  • Creation of new CNC programs and operator instructions for tooling production.
  • Creation of CNC programs and operator instructions needed for spares and machines orders.
  • Update/modify existing CNC programs to meet current standards.
  • Data input into internal ERP system (PRONET) of manufacturing operations and cost of material.
  • Logging and reporting of accurate data of work completed into required work logs.
  • Work with the design team to advise and provide guidance on machinability of machine components.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
Daily Tasks And Communication
  • Creation of new CNC programs and operator instructions for tooling production.
  • Creation of CNC programs and operator instructions needed for spares and machines orders.
  • Update/modify existing CNC programs to meet current standards.
  • Data input into internal ERP system (PRONET) of manufacturing operations and cost of material.
  • Logging and reporting of accurate data of work completed into required work logs.
  • Work with the design team to advise and provide guidance on machinability of machine components.
Quality
  • Ensure CNC programming check sheets are completed and uploaded with all necessary screen shots.
  • Work with the CNC team to troubleshoot production issues. This will include part inspection and rapid response to all program change requests.
  • These changes may or may not include updating programs for future use and creating modified programs to ensure current production needs are met.
  • Participate in SQDC (safety, quality, delivery & cost) reporting and RCI initiatives within the department to improve processes and methods.
Safety and training
  • Ensure that company health and safety procedures are being adhered to daily. This must include reporting any health and safety concerns, near misses and anything relevant to the safety of employees.
  • Assist in the creation of all relevant training documents for the department as needed. This can include but is not limited to standard operating procedures, and other training documents that will improve the efficiency of the department.
Job Requirement And Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Journeymen’s license in manufacturing acquired through the Department of Labor.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience operating a CNC machine with vertical or horizontal centers.
  • Experience using CNC programming software. SolidWorks/Autodesk, Feature CAM is preferred.
  • Technical or Vocational School graduation with a manufacturing focus is preferred.
  • Minimum of four years related work experience preferred.
  • Work experience in related studies may be substituted.
  • Proficiency in CNC programming languages (G-Code, M-Code)
  • Knowledge in the use of CAD/CAM software.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Proficient in the use of measuring devices such as digital calipers, radii gauge and angle gauges.
  • Familiarity with CNC vertical milling setup and jig fixture design.
  • Understanding of cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for efficient machining.
  • Strong mathematical skills for calculations and measurements.
  • Machinist Certification or relevant Journeyman’s license in a manufacturing field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge in the use of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability and desire to maintain a positive culture in the workplace.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • High level of mechanical/technical aptitude and troubleshooting experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements
  • Work in a climate-controlled factory
  • Stand continuously for long periods of time
  • Wearing of safety clothing and equipment is required
  • Able to kneel, bend, crouch and climb ladders to access various parts of a machine

  • Air-conditioned warehouse with concrete flooring. Working around machinery and forklifts
