Job summary

ATW Companies is seeking a CNC Programmer/Machinist to write, test, and optimize CNC programs for precision parts, interpreting blueprints and models, and using CAM software to generate toolpaths. You will operate CNC and manual equipment, ensuring quality and efficiency on the shop floor.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in CNC programming and machining, with strong knowledge of G-code/M-code, GD&T, and multiple-axis machines, plus a collaborative mindset to thrive in a fast-paced production

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of CNC programming and machining experience.
  • Proficiency with CAM software Mastercam, Fusion 360, SolidWorks or Esprit.
  • Strong understanding of G-code and M-code.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T.
  • Experience with 3-axis, 4-axis, and/or 5-axis CNC machines (mills and/or lathes).
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate CNC machining centers, lathes, and manual equipment.
  • Develop, write, and edit CNC programs (G-code/M-code) for mills, lathes, and multi-axis centers.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models to determine machining requirements.
  • Use CAM software to generate toolpaths.
  • Set up and test new programs on the shop floor, making adjustments as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve programming or machining issues to minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with engineers, machinists, and project managers to ensure alignment.
  • Recommend process improvements to reduce cycle time and improve efficiency.
  • Interpret blueprints and specifications to ensure correct dimensions and tolerances.
  • Contribute to a clean, safe, and efficient work environment by performing routine maintenance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to overall teamwork and plant efficiency.

Job description

Position Summary

The CNC Programmer/Machinist will be responsible for writing, testing, and optimizing CNC programs used to produce precision machined parts. This role requires strong technical knowledge of CAD/CAM software, machining principles, and blueprint interpretation to ensure parts are produced accurately, efficiently, and to specification. Safely and efficiently operating CNC and manual equipment to support daily production. This role ensures adherence to quality standards, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance, and collaborates with team members to maintain workflow and part accuracy.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the safe and efficient day-to-day operation of the facility and safety and wellness of all team members.
  • Responsible to ensure process adherence to all applicable quality procedures to assure quality product with priority for patient safety.
  • Communicate regularly in a respectful and collaborative fashion with members of the team to promote teamwork and maintain high level of morale.
  • Operate, and maintain CNC machining centers, lathes, and manual equipment.
  • Manage tools and materials to maintain continuous workflow and operational efficiency.
  • Perform inspections and quality checks, using measuring tools and reporting any deviations or issues.

  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and 3D models (CAD files) to determine machining requirements.

Ideal Experience

Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset are essential, along with the ability to support a clean, safe, and productive facility.
