Job description

SUMMARY

Set up and operate all machines within the Cell to produce quality parts. Maintain tolerance, dimensions, concentricity, and surface finishes as specified on drawings and/or the sales order. Inspect work frequently according to sound machining practices and established procedures during and upon completion of machining operations to ensure quality parts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Make necessary precision adjustments using instruments and gauges as required. Work from routing and parts drawings to fabricate a variety of diaphragm pack components.
2. Use precision measuring tools to check parts during the processing of diaphragms and pack components.
3. Transport material to the next operation after completing turning and gearing operations, using appropriate equipment (e.g., hand cart, forklift, cranes).
4. Set up and operate all turning and gear cutting machines within the cell to cut external and internal gear teeth, ensuring quality and adherence to specifications. Inspect work frequently and record results during and after machining.
5. Consult with supervision when encountering special or unusual conditions; maintain fixturing/tooling, tag fixtures requiring rework, and notify supervisor.
6. Set up vibratory equipment to ensure correct quantity of parts, pack finished parts, and tag with part and work order numbers.
7. Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhere to 5S standards, empty chip pans, and add lubricants/cutting oils as needed.
8. Create layouts and work from drawings, route sheets, and specifications, performing necessary calculations and checks. Use charts and tables for reference, take corrective actions, and report deficiencies.
9. Make precise setups to ensure high accuracy and quality workmanship.

Critical Competencies

The primary functions of the "C" and "D" classifications are secondary to those of "A" and "B". Roles include: Inspector, Packing, Deburr, Carpenter, Tool Crib, Storeroom Receiver, Labor Crew, Oiler, Jitney/move man.

Education and Experience Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent with shop trade knowledge or education.
• Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, and written instructions.

• Basic understanding of relevant theory and practices.
• Demonstrated ability to perform all related functions effectively.
