Job description

SUMMARY

Set up and operate all machines within the Cell to produce quality parts. Maintain tolerance, dimensions, concentricity, and surface finishes as specified on drawings and/or the sales order. Inspect work frequently according to sound machining practices and established procedures during and upon completion of machining operations to ensure quality parts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Make necessary precision adjustments using instruments and gauges as required. Work from routing and parts drawings to fabricate a variety of diaphragm pack components.
2. Use precision measuring tools to check parts during the processing of diaphragms and pack components.
3. Transport material to the next operation using all types of transporting equipment (e.g., hand cart, forklift, cranes) after completing turning and gearing operations.
4. Set up and operate all turning and gear cutting machines within the cell to cut external and internal gear teeth, ensuring quality and adherence to specifications. Inspect work frequently and record results.
5. Consult with supervision when unusual conditions arise, maintain fixturing/tooling, and notify supervisor of rework needs.
6. Setup and operate vibratory equipment, pack finished parts, and tag with part and work order numbers.
7. Maintain a clean and safe work area, including emptying chip pans and adding lubricants/oils as needed.
8. Make layouts from drawings and specifications, perform necessary calculations, and use precision instruments to check work and record results.
9. Make set-ups to ensure high accuracy and quality workmanship.

Critical Competencies

The primary functions of the “C” and “D” classifications are secondary to those of “A” and “B”.

Includes roles such as: Inspector, Packing, Deburr, Carpenter, Tool Crib, Storeroom Receiver, Labor Crew, Oiler, Jitney/move man.

Utility Cell Machinery - Job Knowledge Percentage for Bidding

80% or more required to be qualified.

Machinery includes: 2 Axis CNC Lathe (20%), Gear Shapers (20%), Gear Hobs (20%), Daewoo Mill (20%), Radial Drill (20%).

Education and Experience Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent with shop trade knowledge or education.
• Ability to read and understand drawings/specifications and written instructions.
• Proficiency in measuring instruments and shop math.
• Basic understanding of theory and practice related to the job.
• Demonstrated ability to perform all job functions effectively.
