Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. seeks a Machinist (Tooling) for Mapleton, Illinois, to set up, operate and adjust gear and rotary head milling machines, producing precision tooling, dies, jigs, and fixtures.

You will use blueprints and gauges to meet exact specs while ensuring quality and safety. The role requires 5+ years of manual machining, and candidates with foundry or shop experience, computer literacy, and strong problem solving are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, modify, and repair precision tools, molds, and machinery parts for manufacturing processes by operating various machine tools and using blueprints and measuring instruments to meet precise specifications.
• Set up, operate and adjust gear machines and rotary head milling machines for precision machining on dies, jigs, fixtures, tooling, repair parts, and design parts.
• Operate a special universal grinding machine to perform precise grinding on taper spline and serration gauges.
• Follow safety procedures and quality checks to ensure parts meet specifications.
