Job summary

HII Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a skilled machinist to set up and operate multiple machine tools, reading blueprints and engineering specs to produce parts with tight tolerances.

The role requires the ability to interpret specifications, select appropriate tools, and verify measurements using precision instruments. This on-site position supports the C100 Production team and requires no telework option.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a variety of machine tools to make metal parts and assemblies to exact tolerances.
• Interpret blueprints, sketches and specs to determine operations, sequence and tooling.
• Use precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and quality; modify NC programs as needed.
