Job description

Overview

Element has an opportunity for a Machinist / Senior Machinist to join our rapidly expanding team. As a member of the operations team, the Machining position performs a variety of routine and non-routine machining assignments within the department assigned, ensuring timely and accurate test results under direct supervision. The technician must be proficient in core business skills including safety compliance, code of conduct, and company policies.

Responsibilities
  • Perform duties comparable to a machinist, with added skills from an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a mechanical-related field.
  • Mentor and train less experienced machinists through effective communication of technical data.
  • Explain machining techniques and specifications to teams, drawing from experience and expertise in best practices and customer specifications.
  • Serve as a team lead, directing and coordinating workflow within the shop.
  • Design, set up, and perform machining tasks according to customer specifications.
  • Operate with minimal supervision, with technical input from managers or engineers.
  • Maintain equipment and schedule preventative maintenance.
  • Record and verify dimensions in accordance with quality assurance standards.
  • Oversee machine shop responsibilities and maintain inventory of consumables.
Skills / Qualifications
  • 0-10+ years of machining experience preferred.
  • Experience with manual and CNC machine operations.
  • Knowledge of various materials and applications.
  • Familiarity with Haas CNC programming is preferred.
  • Understanding of laboratory safety protocols.
  • HS diploma or GED preferred; college or vocational coursework is a plus.
  • Advanced engineering qualifications (Bachelor’s degree or equivalent) and/or 6-8 years of experience in a machine shop environment.
  • Strong understanding of machining concepts, measurement instruments, and dimensional accuracy.
  • Good knowledge of machine shop safety procedures.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry is a plus.
